Verbs of Motion
Глаголы движения
Russian verbs of motion come in 14 or more pairs, depending on who you ask. One verb is unidirectional, describing movement in a certain direction or to a certain point. The other is multidirectional or habitual. They often (but not always) translate to English as one word, such as “to go” or “to run,” leaving nuances to the context.
The Russian prefixes and suffixes add new meanings to the verbs of motion, sometimes making significant changes. New pairs bloom like flowers on the main stem. You are welcome to go down the index and smell the flowers. I am planning to keep populating this page. So please come back for more.
